The common house mite

( Latin: Glycyphagus domesticus)

Lat: Glycyphagus domesticus. Also called the furniture mite.

The common house mite is very similar to the sugar mite. It can be seen indoors in humid spaces where it can form large populations in the autumn. It rarely contaminates food or animal feed. Both the sugar mite and the common house mite are exterminated easily by dehydration.
